Elena Protsenko lives in Khromtau Aktobe region. Due to the negligence of doctors, 24-year-old girl from childhood does not use her hands. However, this does not prevent her to paint, write poetry and help the older sister at home:Lena learned to do everything with feet.

I have cerebral palsy (CP). It happened by coincidence. My parents wanted me to be born at home in Kostanai region, but labor has begun on the road, so I came to light in the train. There were no birth trauma. And after I had a vaccination, which can not be done for children with birth trauma …

Childhood … Up to six years there were many clinics and representatives of alternative medicine. The doctors said that I could not even hold my head, not to mention the to sit, walk, do something. But mom and dad did not give up.
My mother and I spent much time in the Caucasus , father’s sister lives there with her family. It was there, after a visit to bone setters, I learned to hold my head up and sit down. By the way, the Caucasus still remains my most favorite place. In Khromtau when walking with me (there was no children’s wheelchairs), people laughed and pointed finger: “Such a big girl, and in a baby carriage!”, in Caucasus, I do not remember this at all.

By the way, over the years, people have not changed. That’s why I still do not like to be alone near the shops: here are the people who try to give me alms. I understand: stroller, stereotypes, the desire to do good work, but you also look a little closer – I’m not dirty, well-dressed and stroller for walking are not ruined …

When they say to me: “I can not imagine how you manage to do everything with your feet!” I feel terribly funny, because I can not imagine how everyone else do something with their hands.

In general, because I from birth can not control my hands – so while my peers have learned to do everything by hands, I learned to work with legs.

My legs are developed like the hands of ordinary people. It does not bother me to do normal household chores, baby-sit the little nephew,to draw.Only at first glance it seems that I am helpless.

Craving for drawing and writing poetry – I have it since childhood.

Why I love life?I have a family, home, work, friends, hobbies. Unfortunately, many believe that if a person has a disability, then it is certainly angry at the whole world.Of course I meet such people. I am one who takes life as it is and enjoys it as much as possible.

I also have bad moods and depression, but basically I’m a cheerful, upbeat person and that can attest everyone who knows me. One of my favorite phrases is: “If life handed you a lemon – Get brains and make it into lemonade!” I do not know who the author is, but it is on this principle I live!
