One of the latest releases from Smartphone manufacturer HTC is the pleasingly versatile HTC Wildfire. Boasting key features such as an impressive 3.2 inch touch screen, fast Internet access and a 5 mega pixel digital camera along with a number of other impressive features and applications.


The unit measures 106.8x 60.4x 12 mm giving it a somewhat chunky appearance whilst remaining slimline whilst its light weight of 118 g makes it an unobtrusive device to carry in your pocket. The available colour variants of the handset range from black, brown, white and red. Therefore it provides aesthetic appeal for the style conscious user as well as the technology buff.

Along with standard internal memory is 384 MB RAM and 512 MB ROM, HTC have also included an integrated micro SD card slot which can accommodate a memory card of up to 32 GB offering the potential to store an entire digital music collection along with a large number of other files such as documents and photos etc. The handy internal phonebook can store a large number of contacts and includes the useful Photocall feature which allows a photo to be displayed on the screen whenever incoming calls necessary. To achieve this, users simply have to assign a photo to a particular contact within the phonebook.

High levels of everyday versatility for achieved thanks to a long list of impressive features and applications. To stay out wise, social networking integration allows direct access via dedicated applications to popular websites such as Facebook, Flickr and twitter. YouTube and Picasa integration is provided allowing users to directly upload photos and videos taken on the built in camera for the world to enjoy. In terms of entertainment features, the HTC Wildfire does not disappoint, providing a versatile media player which supports a number of different file formats for both music and video files, along with a range of pre-installed games and a stereo FM radio player. GPS with A-GPS support is provided which allows features such as geo-tagging, Google maps and a digital compass to function. Version 2.1 (Eclair) if the popular Android operating system works alongside a 528 MHZ Qualcomm processor to handle demanding applications with ease.

As you may expect from a Smartphone of this calibre, a number of different connectivity features are employed in order to provide optimum levels of connectivity to cellular networks and the Internet. Cellular networks are connected to courtesy of class 10 versions of both EDGE & GPRS. In order to provide Internet access, 3G coverage is initially relied upon, whereby an HSDPA connection provides access at speeds of up to 7.2 mega bytes per second. A faster connection can be attained however, thanks to integrated Wi-Fi Technology which utilises the signals provided by wireless Internet routers, therefore providing an enhanced browsing experience thanks to its faster connection.

The HTC Wildfire also provides an impressive 5 mega pixel digital camera, operating at a high pixel resolution. Because of this, the resulting images are of excellent quality and the task of taking these is simplified thanks to Autofocus, smile detection and an LED flash. Geo-tagging functions thanks to GPS which automatically records the location at which a photo was taken. As an alternative method of image capture, the camera can also shoot video footage.

The HTC Wildfire ticks all the boxes in terms of aesthetic so functionality and provides a reminder of why the manufacturer has a reputation as a leading innovator of Smartphone production.
